Can we share a CPD parent session link directly with parents to watch at home?
Overview
There isn’t a direct link that can be shared with parents for CPD parent sessions. Instead, schools are encouraged to host the session themselves, either online or in person.
Can parents access the CPD session directly?
CPD parent sessions are not available via a standalone link for parents to access independently.
This means:
- You cannot send a direct Ten Ten link for parents to watch on demand
- Access to the session remains within the school’s subscription
How can schools share the session with parents?
Schools can deliver the session in one of two ways:
1. Hosting the session online
- Set up an online meeting (e.g. Zoom, Teams, Google Meet)
- Screen-share the session for parents to watch
- Invite parents to join remotely
- Allow time for reflection and discussion during the session
2. Hosting the session in person
- Invite parents into school
- Play the session in a suitable space (e.g. hall or classroom)
- Facilitate discussion and reflection as the session progresses
Both approaches allow parents to engage with the content in a supported and structured environment.
Why are schools encouraged to host the session?
Hosting the session locally is important for several reasons:
1. Safeguarding and appropriate access
The content includes sensitive topics, so hosting helps ensure it is:
- Shared with the intended audience only
- Delivered in a responsible and appropriate context
2. Supporting discussion and reflection
Throughout the session, there are moments where participants are invited to:
- Reflect on what they’ve heard
- Discuss key ideas
These conversations are best supported by a member of staff facilitating the session.
3. Maintaining strong relationships with parents
Delivering the session in a guided way helps schools:
- Communicate clearly and sensitively
- Build trust with parents
- Navigate topics that can sometimes feel challenging or unfamiliar
This relational approach is especially important given that RSHE topics can occasionally be a source of concern or misunderstanding.
